Internet Access for Families & Students During COVID-19

The FCC has launched the Keep Americans Connected Pledge, which many broadband carriers have signed. For the next 60 days, its core provisions will:

  • not terminate service to any residential or small business customers because of their inability to pay their bills due to the disruptions caused by the coronavirus pandemic;
  • waive any late fees that any residential or small business customers incur because of their economic circumstances related to the coronavirus pandemic; and
  • open its Wi-Fi hotspots to any American who needs them

Additionally many Internet Service Providers are offering discounted services for students and other individuals impacted by the current COVID-19 crisis. Please contact your ISP or these known service providers for additional details:

  • AT&T Access Program -- $5/mo and $10/mo. Includes free installation, free in home Wi-Fi and a data allowance of 150GB or 1TB depending on speed available in your area. AT&T is also providing free access to its public WiFi hotspots. Also its consumer home internet wireline customers and fixed wireless internet customers would receive unlimited data. Waive wireless plan overage charges for data, voice or text for residential or small business wireless customers.
  • New Wave Communications -- 15 Mbps internet plan for $10 per month is available for the next 60 days to help families most impacted from coronavirus challenges, such as seniors and students. No documentation will be required to sign up for this plan.
  • Comcast -- New Internet Essentials customers will receive two free months of Internet service, which is available to all qualified low-income households for $9.95/month plus tax. Internet Essentials customers also have the option to purchase a laptop or desktop computer at a discounted price. Comcast is also offering free access to its Xfinity WiFi hotspots for everyone for the 60 days. It's also providing unlimited data to its customers for no extra charge. The company is also providing 60 days of free basic internet service to new customers.
  • Verizon -- adding 15 GB of data across nearly all of our cell plans, to be used between 03/25/2020 and 04/30/2020. To be eligible, you must be on a qualifying postpaid (unlimited or shared), Jetpack or prepaid plan.
  • CenturyLink Lifeline Program -- provides federal monthly support of $9.25. In some states, additional monthly support is also available.
  • Suddenlink -- Altice Advantage broadband free for 60 days to any new household in our service area with K-12 and/or college students who may be displaced and who do not currently have home internet access. Please call 888.633.0030.
